Question One - What is your reaction to the text you just read?
Pretty Deadly is a graphical narrative that introduces a variety of unique characters, the approach to the story overall was cohesive and interesting to come by. I could not stop reading after the first chapter because half the time I was more determined than ever to figure out the characters purpose in all this. My reaction to the story at first was intrigued in how the art direction was going from past to present, then completely amazed by how certain stories of different characters would come together and further push the characters backgrounds all together like a perfectly baked cherry pie. The story was both visually vibrant and beautifully drawn.
Question Two - What connections did you make with the story? Discuss the element of the work with which you were able to connect.
The scene where Fox shot a man after being ambushed and had changed his mind after Sissy convinced him to help the man who was bleeding to death. I would say that I have a connection with Sissy but no exactly in this scenario. I have had points in my life where I was with other people who were not considerate about other people's problem. One moment someone was against someone then the next everything was figured out between one another which I'm glad to have been a part of convincing. It is apparent that Fox is a ruthless man but when he is with Sissy, that whole mindset changes in certain situations because she is considerate despite there being conflict.
Question Three - What changes would you make to adapt this story into another medium? What medium would you use? What changes would you make?
After reading through two volumes of this graphic narrative, I genuinely appreciate every aspect of it from the art to the direction of the story. If I had the option, I would not mind making this into an animation, that could be beautifully executed with the right team. I would say movies but sometimes stories adapted from comics or books do not turn out as great, but that really depends on the people's commitment and careful consideration. Knowing that it would be adapted into an animation or a film, the scenes would have to be extended and pushed further. Also probably would like to see it word form, but I appreciate the art and everything about it already.
